What is Stainless Steel of 309/309S?

309 and 309S are austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels commonly used in high-temperature applications. Due to the high content of chromium and nickel, 309 and 309S have high corrosion resistance, excellent oxidation resistance, and excellent heat resistance, and provide good strength at room temperature and high temperature. The only significant difference between 309 and 309S is the carbon content. The carbon composition of alloy 309S is much less, which can minimize carbide precipitation and improve weldability.
